Optometric Assistant

iClear Optometry is an Orthokeratology Optometry Clinic located in Newark. We are looking for friendly students / recent graduates to assist two optometrists in front desk and pretesting roles. This includes:
- Checking patients in & out of the clinic
- Performing various types of pretesting (including the corneal topography, auto-refractor and tonometer machines)
- Answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
- Entering patient information
- Ordering contact lenses/glasses
- Teaching patients how to wear contact lenses & contact lens care

Optometric Technician

East Bay Vision Center Optometry is a family practice with three East Bay locations: Oakland, Fremont and Pleasanton. We practice primary care Optometry with emphasis on Myopia management. We are looking for friendly people to join our team as optometric interns, or optometric techs. Experience is appreciated but not necessary. Applicants should have a friendly personality with willingness to help people. This position is a great opportunity for pre optometry students or Optometry students to learn about private practice optometry and myopia management, including orthokeratology, soft multifocals and Atropine therapy. Interns will develop valuable patient interactions skills as well as skills and knowledge of advanced instruments and equipment such as fundus cameras, topographers etc.
Our Oakland location is accessible by bus, BART and is a short ride from UC Berkeley. Fremont and Pleasanton locations provide free parking. We are looking for part time help and days are flexible, but must include some Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
– Front desk administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients, checking insurance eligibility, reminding patients of their appointments, etc.
– Explain insurance benefits, and help patients with frame and lens selection
– Assist doctors in pre-testing patients as well as special medical testing such as fundus cameras, topography, OCT, intraocular pressures.
– Take good medical history and enter data accurately and completely into Electronic medical records
– Train patients to wear contact lenses, and manage contact lens trials.

Paid Pre-optometry internship
Pleasanton, CA
Our Pre-Optometry Internship is ideal for recent graduates and undergraduate students in their final year looking to apply to optometry school within the next two years. This internship is a unique opportunity to work in a multi-doctor private practice setting. We offer a comprehensive training program with direct patient interaction augmented with assigned reading materials. The position can be Full-Time or Part-Time during the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. The internship is Full-Time during winter break and after graduation.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The goal of the internship is to prepare students for success in Optometry School. We will teach various aspects of optometry including insurance, pre-testing patients, performing optical coherence tomography, obtaining patient’s visual acuity, checking patient’s eye pressure, styling patients with eyeglasses, and edging lenses, Administrative functions include billing, filing, cleaning, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory. Must be available to work on Saturdays and the last two weeks of 2023.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Outstanding customer service and communications skills. Enjoys talking and working with people. Willingness to learn and excel. Prior healthcare or retail experience is a plus. Prior experience as an optometric assistant or an optician is a plus, but not a requirement.
