RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Working with the team to insure excellent customer experience and a fun work environment. We are very creative, always pushing new ideas for our social media photoshoots, window displays, trunk shows, events, etc. All other parts of the job are familiar, some include:
* Styling customers with new frames/lenses
* Adjustments & Repairs
* Lab (inspections, tinting, edging, etc.)
* Pre-Testing for Eye Exams (Mill Valley location only)
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Ideal candidate is;
* ABO Certified (or equivalent experience)
* Familiar with Independent/Luxury eyewear lines
* Detail oriented (Mac literate)
* Team player (dependable)
* Outgoing & Stylish
* Interest in advanced learning (Lab/edging, new lens technologies, frame design, eye exam/pre-testing, etc.)
* Creative (windows, displays, photography, etc)
* Experience with Social Media / Event planning (Monthly Trunk Shows & Styling Events)

OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN

Berkeley Optometric Group in Downtown Berkeley is looking to hire new optometric technicians.This position involves assisting doctors in running optometric equipment, and optician work (including frame selection, placing and checking in lab orders for glasses and contacts, billing insurance, troubleshooting patients’ concerns.) This position will also overlap with some front desk work, as needed.
No prior experience required; we are happy to train you in all of these areas. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic about the field and is motivated to learn.
Minimum commitment of one year – we’re ideally looking for someone who can work full-time, but part-time could work if you’re able to work a minimum of two days a week for a total of 16 hours a week. This is an ideal position for a pre-optometry student who is taking a gap year before going to optometry school. The 3 doctors here all went to Berkeley Optometry and 2 of them have taught in the program; we will provide career and school application mentorship during your time working at this practice.

OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT

We are a well-established private optometric practice in the Excelsior District that has been providing premium eye care for over 30 years seeking an Optometric Assistant/Optician team member. Our practice specializes in personalized care with high tech equipment and designer frames.
Office hours- Mon, Tues, Thur-Fri 9-noon, 1-6:00 PM, Sat 9 AM-1PM. Saturday hours occasionally until 3PM.
This is a customer service position with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Seeking a friendly, energetic, organized, detail oriented person with excellent communication skills. You should have a strong work ethic, be dependable, punctual, mature, and self motivated.
JOB DUTIES:
Sales, recommending lens options based on doctor recommendations
Fitting, adjusting, dispensing, and repairs of eyewear
Assisting patients with pre-examination procedures
Contact lens training – insertion & removal of lenses
Verify insurance eligibility, process insurance claims, billing, and other office functions.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Although not necessary, 1 year or more of experience in an optometric/optical office preferred.
Experience working with patients/customer service
Excellent English written and verbal communication, bilingual in Chinese or Spanish a plus
Experience with Officemate a plus
Attention to detail and precision with numbers/calculations
Self- motivated and able to learn quickly
Great personality, positive attitude
Professional appearance
Salary is based on experience relevant to an optometric practice. Salary to increase with job proficiency

Potential employment opportunities for any graduating students of UC BERKELEY or any other colleges (who are seeking work experience during their gap year before applying to Optometry school).
At the Orinda Optometry Group, we would teach and train any pre-optometry student all the various facets of the profession (ranging from pre-testing, instrument use, contact lens fittings/trainings, myopia management, optical, scribing for the doctors, and some front and back office work, and so much more within private practice). Work experience is very important before applying to Optometry school and we are happy to provide the training needed to gain invaluable work experience. This is a paid, full-time employee position, starting in May/June with regular work hours, Monday-Friday and in the future, possible Saturdays (abbreviated day).
