Video Game Study
Hello Foresight! Dr. Roger Li’s lab is looking for participants to help with their video game study. This is a great way for you to be more immersed in research and to learn more about optometry directly on campus. Currently, we are looking for participants who are NON-VIDEOGAMERS.
To determine whether or not you qualify for our study, please complete this questionnaire, and please be as specific as possible in your answers. Should you qualify for the study, you will be compensated for your time at a flexible rate ($10-13/hour) depending on how quickly you complete the study. You will be playing video games for a total of 40 hours (2 hours a session, 20 sessions). Prior to and following that, you will be asked to come into the lab to complete some other tests, split over 2-4 sessions (~1-1.5 hours each). We are VERY flexible in regards to scheduling if you qualify for our study.

I am a current UCBSO student (c/o 2019), helping to organize an eye screening with my church, Christian Layman Church, in Richmond this upcoming July 16-19. We are looking for volunteers to help out and details are as follows:
Who: Pre-Optometry students are invited to join practicing optometrists, opticians, optometry students, and other volunteers in serving the Richmond community by providing much-needed eye exams and glasses. Prior eye screening experience and/or any second language abilities (especially Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin) will be very helpful, though not mandatory. All vision screening training will be provided on site. No lunch will be provided but rides can be arranged, if needed.

Vision Study Participant
Dear Vision Science Students,We are currently looking for volunteers to participate in an experiment in the Silver Lab, part of the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute and Berkeley Optometry. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the effects of learning on visual perception. Tasks involve viewing images and making judgments about them. In addition, we will administer the Alzheimer’s medication Donepezil to determine its effects on learning and visual perception.The entire study consists of 17 sessions over the course of roughly one month: 1 screening, 2 introductory, 2 pre-training, 2 post-training, and 10 for training. Before each of the last 16 sessions, and for an additional 4 days (20 days total), you will take either a Donepezil pill or an inactive placebo pill. Compensation will be $15/hour, plus a $100 bonus for successfully completing all 17 sessions.Eligibility: Subjects must be 18 – 80 years old, healthy, and have normal vision (natural or corrected). City Optometry is an established private practice located two blocks from Union Square and the Financial District. We provide our patients with top quality health care and exceptional customer service while maintaining a friendly, family-like atmosphere. Our practice is also performing cutting-edge work with traumatic brain injury patients as well as subtle eye misalignments that are causing medical symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and anxiety. Treatment with special eyeglasses containing realigning prism lenses results in marked reduction or elimination of these symptoms. This Scribe aspect of the job entails being in the exam room with the doctor and the patient and using the EHR to document the history and exam. Vision Therapist (Therapist, Teacher, Tutor)
We are looking for an individual who loves working with children and adults and wants to make a difference in people’s lives. We have had individuals in the past who are interested in ultimately going into optometry. Our last pre-optometry intern will be entering UC Berkeley School of Optometry in the fall. Experience as a tutor or working with children in some capacity is helpful for this position. Therapists often have a background as a teacher or tutor.
A Vision Therapist assists the doctor and lead therapist in helping individuals learn how to use their visual system more effectively: for learning, visual processing delays as well as overcoming amblyopia (lazy eye) and eye-alignment problems. Adults also come into Vision Therapy to recover from traumatic brain injury (TBI), eliminate headaches and to improve visual efficiency. Visual Learning Study
Welcome and thank you for showing your interest in our eye study! We are studying visual learning on the UC Berkeley campus (School of Optometry, PI: Dr. Roger Li). Should you qualify for our study, you will be compensated for your time (~$750 for the entire experiment for a total of ~30 hrs).

Summer Student Research Assistant
The Clinical Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry, is looking for 1-2 summer research assistants to help with an ongoing research project. You will be trained on how to interpret and process images of the oil glands in the eyelids using an NIH software, called ImageJ (or Fiji).
