Summer program
Ohio State University
As a STEM-focused student, you have many choices when it comes to summer enrichment programs and experiences. It’s definitely worth your time to take a look at The Ohio State University College of Optometry’s intensive, four-day residential program, Improving Diversity in Optometric Careers (I-DOC).
This year’s I-DOC sessions, set for June 23-27, 2024 in Columbus, will provide an in-depth look at career options for doctors of optometry. You’ll get to see what it is like to be an optometrist, spend some time in Ohio State’s clinical learning spaces using equipment, and learn about different ways to practice optometry (private practice, in a surgical practice, as a vision researcher, in homeless shelters, etc.). You will spend time with faculty and students learning more about Ohio State’s approach to training students and the best practices for a successful application, including prep materials for the Optometry Admission Test (similar to the MCAT). All costs (including travel, room and board, and most meals) will be covered for successful applicants.
